The future is bright for the healthcare industry. Employment in healthcare-related occupations is expected to grow 15% in the next decade — well over what is expected for growth throughout other industries.
However, more immediate growth is abundant, as well. Healthcare positions are consistently recognized at the top of lists indicating opportunities for growth in the last year and the near future. The growth comes, in part, as healthcare workers across the country surge into hospitals to help the staff overcome the additional demands the COVID-19 pandemic has heaped upon them. There has also been a great need for assistance in testing for COVID-19, relating to both testing facilities and healthcare professionals with the skills to administer the tests. Testing facilities are overwhelmed with demand as the outbreak continues to worsen post-holidays, but ATC has come up with a plan to help.
Co-founders and brothers David and Stephen Savitsky recognized testing would be crucial back in March of 2020, which lead to the creation of ATC Testing and Screening Services. Their speedy launch allowed ATC to keep thousands of nurses employed when they might have otherwise been furloughed as hospitals around the country ceased performing elective surgeries to keep up with the needs of COVID patients.
“In our company, [everything we do] is on behalf of our franchisee network, and we’re always looking to provide them with opportunities and guidance and support,” Savitsky said. “We thought this could be a great opportunity, as there’s no place in the country not impacted by this…That’s how we see our role as a franchisor.” ATC has rolled out this new service in 20 states, and they have provided testing and monitoring for a wide array of companies, including offices, factories, schools and universities, and transportation services.
“Unfortunately, because of the continuing pandemic here and that the fall resurgence is happening, the needs are going to be great in the immediate future,” Savitsky said. “Once a vaccine is found and deployed, we want to be a part of that delivery service. We have tons of nurses and plenty of people to help administer, so we’re hoping we’ll be able to do that.”
