Nurses Week 2020

May 6, 2020

National Nurses Week started in 1974 under President Richard Nixon, and begins today May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday. Florence Nightingale, OM, RRC, DStJ was a British social reformer and statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organized care for wounded soldiers.

This year we honor the nurses of today. The theme for this year’s nursing week is compassion, expertise, and trust. Every single hard-working nurse exemplifies these qualities and because of them, we are able to stay home and stay safe, while they’re out there on the front lines fighting COVID-19. The pandemic has highlighted the value of nurses under challenging situations. From all of us here at ATC Healthcare we are thankful for all the nurses who work hard every day, you are our heroes!
